MGOS Church,Baroda, is a part of The Indian Orthodox Church, founded by St. Thomas one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ, who came to India in A.D. 52 at Kodungallur, near Cochin. His unique spiritual life attracted the people and they accepted Christianity. Pakalomattam, Sankarapuri, Kalli and Kalliyankal Brahmin families accepted Christianity from St. Thomas. St. Thomas established eight churches in various places in Kerala. The Indian Orthodox Church is having more than 2000 years old history . Mar Gregorios Orthodox Syrian Church ( Valiya Pally) Baroda, celebrated its Golden Jubilee with a year long cultural and charitable programmes which ended on 17th January, 2016 at Mar Dionysius Nagar, Basil School Compound, Tandalja, Baroda. The Golden Jubilee commemoration was inaugurated by H.G. Thomas Mar Athanasios, Metropolitan, Chengannur Diocese and H.G. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Yulios, Metropolitan, Ahmedabad Diocese on 26th April, 2015 at St. George Chapel, Jambuva during its consecration ceremony in presence of the parish members of Indian orthodox churches from all over Gujarat. As a part of the Golden Jubilee Commemoration, the church Managing committee had also decided to provide financial aid to economically weaker families as Marriage Aid, Medical Aid and also decided to have continuous other charitable activities.
